Code name : Nochapiq. Distinguishing mark : She wraps everything! She uses ribbon from a number of leading luxury brands as her primary material. She began with a simple knife wrapped in Dior in 2015. She has been pushing the exercise to the limits of obsession since 2018.
Spoons, forks, pipes, toothbrushes, cameras, lollypops, hammers, bracelets, power points, computer mouse….all wrapped in ribbon by Chanel, Hermès, Gucci, Lanvin, Yves Saint Laurent… Why designer ribbon? “They are traces of luxury and therefore highly recognisable”. The artist adds : “Is a Hermes whistle worth the same as a Gucci or a Chanel? Does an objects value come from its cover? Do the clothes truly make the monk ?”

Many see an intentional lack of respect in the process, others a way to mummify an idea of a consumerist society. Nochapiq, feels close to Pop Art and the idea of surrealism, leaving each wrapped object open to the viewers interpretation this Winter…
